Volunteer Opportunities for University Organizations
Volunteering with GRC is a great way for your Student Organization to increase member morale, reach out to your community, and help end hunger in South Florida. Student volunteer teams help rescue and distribute food everyday, promote fundraising events, and above all - MAKING A DIFFERENCE!

Individual Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are the heart of GRC. By volunteering with GRC, South Floridians are reaching out to their community and are helping their hungry neighbors to find a meal.

Below are some of the many ways both volunteer groups and individual volunteers can contribute their skills and efforts to such an extraordinary cause.

Food Drives
While GRC rescues excess food from all kinds of food establishments; we also rely on donations of nonperishable food collected during food drives to help stock food pantries. GRC picks up nonperishable food items from offices, schools, and places of worship and delivers them to community food programs. We will supply you with tips for running a successful food drive and helpful suggestions for maximum participation.

Food Rescues
Immediately following restaurant and food industry events, teams of volunteers rescue any leftover food from event sponsors who want to donate food to GRC. Depending on the size of the event, between 5-20 volunteers are needed to collect nutritious food, which is delivered within 24 hours to our affiliate agencies.

Special Events
You don't have to make a long commitment to become a volunteer. Join our special events team and help us make our many events throughout the year successful. You can rescue food at the end of an industry show, distribute GRC literature, collect canned food, or help with fundraisers. GRC events are a lot of fun, and you get to work with great people.

Staff a GRC Table
GRC is invited to provide information at food industry conventions, church functions, street fairs, and corporate or university volunteer fairs. Volunteers set up and staff a table, distribute literature, and answer any questions from people who might be interested in learning more about Global Resource Cycle and hunger in South Florida.

Volunteer at a GRC Affiliate Agency
Whether during the holidays or year round, volunteers are needed at GRC community food programs to help with a variety of activities. You can help prepare meals, clean and organize the dining areas, prepare and package bags of groceries for families, or serve a hot meal to those in need. Types of community food programs include: soup kitchens, homeless shelters, food pantries, churches, synagogues, senior centers, women's shelters, after school programs for children, and more. Days and hours vary depending on the individual community food program.

Be a Donor
Help us help others by donating funds and/or in-kind support to our cause. GRC is always looking for products and donations to keep our costs down so that we can direct our limited financial resources towards feeding those in need.

Be a Partner
If you are a leader in the food industry, you can join forces with GRC by allowing us to collect your excess food. In addition to canned and dried food, GRC gratefully accepts perishable and prepared foods maintained in safe temperature zones and chilled or frozen before being donated.

If your company or organization is one that is dedicated to fair business practices, environmental sustainability, education or outreach, and you would like to join forces with GRC by helping us to sustain our mission through continuous in-kind support/contributions or by co-hosting community events and projects, let us know.

Be a Sponsor
If your company or organization is interested in contributing funds or in-kind support at a specific event or for a particular community project.
